the fringe benefits
of a walk in the woods
turkey tail fungi
cooling coffee
the sound of last night’s rain
in the river
cold air
rushing out the attic door
ghost of Christmas past
winterberries all that’s left is color
stick season
we follow the red-tail
to its perch
a soft-boiled egg
floats in the ramen
winter sun
snow in the mountains…
sugar from a beignet
clings to my mug
lake sunset
yellow gingko leaves fan out
across the sidewalk
last night’s argument
frost lingers in the shadow
of the house
slant of morning light
across the newspaper
a ladybug
filling the seat
of his blue plastic lawn chair
yellow leaves
