hazy sun . . .
the crack of a grasshopper
at the boy’s feet
raucous passengers
aboard the last ferry
laughing gulls
new moon
shorebirds follow
the bay’s curve
Also from Wild Graces yesterday…
a shakuhachi
waits on the table
morning crickets
Written as part of Jeff Hoagland’s “Flower Power” workshop today at Wild Graces, an annual haiku gathering in Deerfield, NH:
at the tip-top
of the ironweed
fritillary
late summer
median weeds hide
more roadkill
all the ripe peaches
stolen from the tree
spill of moonlight
an osprey’s cries
pierce the morning fog
late summer blues
sunset glow . . .
a line of waxwings
fills a bare branch
Cedar Waxwings
sun through fog . . .
picking wild rose hips
for grandma’s jam
dry well . . .
young gulls squabble over
fallen apples
