New Year’s Eve
finishing the new puzzle
before midnight
a view of home
across the windswept bay
year’s end
Christmas fern
what else was green
under the snow
cardinal red
for once wishing the snow
won’t turn to rain
morning ritual
facing Venus
over the kitchen sink
snowy field
beyond the headlights
a herd of deer
church bells ringing
a flock of pigeons scatters
then gathers again
moon rising
over the cathedral
Christmas mass
Christmas market
warming my hands
on a bag of chestnuts
long drive north
are we following the road
or the crows
longest night
my neighbor’s Christmas lights
compete with the moon
