immersion . . .
following the deer trail
into a marsh
vernal pool . . .
dark wriggling larvae
of frogs or mosquitoes
the siskin’s song
unzipping
a flap of birch bark
another grey day
the chipping sparrow’s
monotonous song
speeding up
so I can’t pass
B MNDFL
spring rain
the river bank releases
an old bottle
maple flowers . . .
a kinglet’s song reaches
its crescendo
never alone
on the forest trail
rustling leaves
a kinglet swings
from a willow catkin . . .
scudding clouds
rain-wet sleeves . . .
one pair of leaves open
on the viburnum
flowering maples . . .
a pair of phoebes
adds mud to their nest
