squirrel drey
the places we call home
for the holidays
autumn gale
the flash of sea ducks
among the waves
Thanksgiving snowfall
the slow accumulation
of gratitude
king tide
sharing the breakwater
with sandpipers
nostalgia
birch bark filigree
in the empty nest
the wild ducks
also hurrying home
early dusk
early sunset
the old oak’s last leaves
trembling
winterberry
the lake kicking up
before the freeze
winter moths
the dark secret
you couldn’t keep
waning crescent
knowing the deer
are out there
snow in headlights
the lifespan
of a winter moth
If you’re curious about winter moths, check out this blog post/video by my naturalist friend Bryan Pfeiffer.
