royal ferns . . .
the river’s flow
barely visible
home again
the familiar habits
of backyard crows
a cluster
of caterpillar tents
morning fog
sunlit path
the wing-crack
of each grasshopper
a blue egg
among the brown
summer haze
cabbage whites
flag the kale patch . . .
waning moon
sea-wet basalt
juniper creeping
up to the edge
ocean rain
a cormorant rises
with a fish in its throat
summer rain
the sirens stop
at the end of our street
another one lost . . .
the day’s last song
the dove’s
surf spray
reading the pictographs
of sunburst lichen
