snow flurries
on the first day of spring
the same crows
equinoctial light
northbound buffleheads
halfway there
everything i want
right now
pussy willows
ides of March
a widowmaker creaks
in the oak grove
falling into
the swollen river
an old oak’s shadow
the black-and-white plates
in an antique bird book
March rain
pulling on
a heavier sweater
the white of snowdrops
riding high and fast
down the swollen river —
late winter light
grappling
with impermanence
Buddha-shaped soap
home again the river rushing to meet me
swirl of lights
out the airplane window
winter rain
