almost spring
the rushing stream
of traffic
nightfall
the dog’s barking
nearer
sea-worn stones
the ease
of a blue sky
in the hemlock grove
the voice we hear
the river
what light there is
lingering later
this planet’s tilt
cabin fever
talking back
to the wind
snow-heavy clouds
rearranging what’s left
of the woodpile
(for Mary Stevens and our Companionable Writing sessions)
blue sky through pines
easy to imagine
it’s not winter
night window
behind my reflection
the wind
