winter trees
sunlight slips through
slats of the fence
frazil ice
the acupuncturist’s
cool fingers
stranger than fiction . . .
roosting crows backlit
by the Belt of Venus
high wind warning
the moon lifts free
of the mountain
below zero
the hollow beech
keeps its secrets
wind chill
chickadees pick peanuts
out of the birdseed
cold front
from all directions crows
head for the roost
frozen pipes . . .
out the window a deer
paws the hard lawn
below zero
blackberries from Mexico
purple my fingers
sea smoke
hiding the harbor’s surface . . .
inbound geese
tracks in snow . . .
the lives
after this one
