afternoon snow
the piebald doe fades
into the shadows
sun through flurries
a glimpse of the guillemot’s
little red feet
bathroom floor
bare feet step on
moonlight
moonrise
the Christmas tree lot
almost empty
crows poke around
a snowless lawn . . .
year’s end
afternoon shadows . . .
a small spider skitters
across December
foliose lichen . . .
reading the life signs
of the winter woods
soup on simmer . . .
our neighbor has added more
Christmas lights
winter walk on the jetty
a rogue wave
wets my legs
December rain . . .
a house finch lingering
in the feeder
early dusk
dark shapes of ducks
shift among rocks
