nautical twilight
a house on the mainland
the first star
river mist the length of the loon’s liftoff
red maple flowers
shine with morning rain
birthday bouquet
*
Happy birthday, Paul!
yard work . . .
mist moistens the new
tulip shoots
switching out
storm windows for screens . . .
riversong
a porcupine
slowly climbs a hemlock . . .
last patches of snow
yard work—
a breeze-blown leaf mimics
a chipmunk
“hey Siri…”
even with the window closed
first phoebe
his face on the screen
hidden by cigarette smoke
. . . poplar catkins
spring in Maine . . .
the flowers and birdsong
of t.v. golf
right when they’re supposed to be spring peepers
