a house finch’s song
as loud as the rain
spring flooding
briefly, sleet . . .
a bloodroot flower tight
within its leaf
our feet slow on the dunes trail earthstar
muddy trail
through greening fields
. . . a kestrel hovers
pink moon
through the clouds
of flies
bare branches
softened by fog . . .
first swallows
rising sap
a pair of nuthatches
spirals the maple
loons on the lake . . .
remembering the night
of my sister’s birth
spring river
the green of new leaves
the green of moss
spring flooding
the river the color
of money
morning mist
a phoebe’s voice somewhere
by the river
